Why receipts matter more in retail
In a food stall, a receipt is mostly a formality. In a boutique or retail shop, it is the document customers return with. Exchanges, returns, gifts and warranty questions all lead back to the receipt, and the paper version is the one most likely to fade or go missing.
Thermal receipt paper fades in a matter of weeks. A customer looking for proof of purchase after a month may be holding a blank slip.
A receipt that does not fade
A digital receipt stays on the customer’s phone, and does not fade.
A digital receipt lives on the customer’s phone as a web page. They can save it to their gallery, download it as a PDF or email it to themselves, so it is there when they need it. For you, that means fewer arguments about what was bought and when.
Knowing your regulars when customers buy occasionally
Retail customers do not visit as often as coffee drinkers, so it is easy to lose track of who your best customers are. Two features help:
- A customer record built from every tap, with visit history and spend totals.
- Loyalty points shown on the receipt page, which give an occasional customer a reason to come back.
Private staff notes per customer let your team record what they have learned, such as a favourite brand or a preferred size, so the next visit feels personal.
Itemised detail you control
loopd receipts are fully itemised and are built on a template made for your business, so the layout, details and wording match how you want to present yourself. Industry-specific fields can be added on request.
Where it fits with your POS
The device sits beside your till and connects to the same network as your POS. Nothing is installed on the POS and your staff need no retraining. We explain how that works in more detail here.
Is it right for your shop?
Digital receipts suit retail businesses with repeat customers, higher-value items or frequent returns. If your customers shop once and rarely return, the main benefit is a receipt that lasts and less paper to handle.
Common questions
Do I need an online shop?
No. Digital receipts work at the counter of a physical shop. An online store is a separate add-on if you want one.
Is the device large?
No. It is a small, self-contained unit that sits on the counter.
What about GST details on the receipt?
If you are GST-registered, check the sample receipt with your accountant against what your receipts must show before you go live.
